When people visit Elwood Vintage, they usually come looking for a vintage Harley-Davidson tee, a perfectly worn pair of Levi's, or maybe that one flannel that feels like it has been waiting decades to find the right owner. What many people don't realize is that behind every listing is one person who has personally searched for, cleaned, photographed, measured, researched, and packed every single piece. My name is Chauntel, and I am the owner of Elwood Vintage. Whether you've been shopping with me for years or you just found the shop today, I thought it was finally time to introduce myself and share the story behind the brand. Elwood Vintage started more than eleven years ago with a simple love for finding things that other people overlooked. I have always believed that some of the best treasures are hidden in places where most people never think to look. Long before vintage became as popular as it is today, I was spending weekends wandering through thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets, and small antique shops, hoping to uncover something special. Sometimes I would leave empty-handed, and other times I would find a piece that immediately made me stop in my tracks. Those moments are still just as exciting today as they were when I first started. Over the years, Elwood Vintage has grown into much more than an online clothing store. It has become my creative outlet and a business that reflects who I am. During the day, I work full-time in healthcare operations, leading teams, improving systems, and helping a growing dental practice continue to move forward. I genuinely enjoy that work because I love solving problems and helping people succeed. At the same time, Elwood gives me a completely different kind of fulfillment. It allows me to slow down, trust my creativity, and build something that is entirely my own. People often ask what draws me to vintage clothing, and the answer is that I have never been interested in perfect. I am drawn to clothing that has been lived in, traveled in, worked in, and loved. Every faded concert shirt, broken-in denim jacket, and perfectly worn flannel carries evidence of the life it has already lived. Small repairs, fading, stains, and signs of wear are not flaws to me. They are reminders that these pieces have stories that continue every time someone chooses to wear them again. One of my favorite parts of running Elwood Vintage is researching the history behind the pieces I find. I enjoy learning about old clothing manufacturers, dating tags, identifying fabrics, and understanding how garments were made decades ago. There is something incredibly rewarding about taking a shirt that has been sitting unnoticed on a rack and discovering that it represents a small piece of American history or a moment in music, sports, or culture. Sharing those stories with customers has become one of my favorite parts of writing each listing. Like many small business owners, I wear every hat imaginable. I am the buyer, photographer, copywriter, customer service representative, shipping department, inventory manager, accountant, and social media manager. There are days when I spend hours driving from one small town to another, hoping to find inventory, and there are evenings when I'm still photographing new arrivals long after dinner. It can be exhausting, but I genuinely love every part of the process because I know exactly where every piece came from and the work that went into bringing it to the shop. If you've followed Elwood for a while, you may have noticed that the collections have evolved. While I still appreciate classic prep and workwear, I continue to find myself drawn back to vintage band shirts, Harley-Davidson tees, worn denim, military pieces, and clothing that feels like it belongs in an old mountain town or tucked away in a cabin somewhere in Montana. Those are the pieces that make me stop scrolling, walk across an entire thrift store, or dig through one more rack because I know there might be something incredible waiting underneath. At its heart, Elwood Vintage has never been just about selling clothes. It has always represented something much bigger for me. It represents creativity, independence, and the belief that building something of your own is always worth pursuing. Every order helps support a dream that has been growing for more than a decade. It allows me to continue searching for unique pieces, sharing their stories, and creating a business that reflects what I value most: quality, authenticity, and preserving pieces of the past for future generations. I truly believe that clothing should have character. It should tell a story before you ever say a word. The best pieces are the ones that feel comfortable from the moment you put them on, as though they have already become part of your life. That is exactly what I hope people find when they shop at Elwood Vintage. Thank you for supporting my small business, whether you've purchased a single shirt, become a returning customer, shared one of my posts, or simply taken the time to read this story. Every order, message, and kind word means more than you probably realize. I appreciate every single person who has helped Elwood Vintage grow over the past eleven years, and I cannot wait to see where the next chapter takes us. Until the next great vintage find, Chauntel Founder, Elwood Vintage
